ST∆RT: the app measures air quality of your local site and visualizes it with the WINDROSE: The longest, flickering “tentacle” pointing towards the user bears the color that represents the local air quality.
The WINDROSE is constructed of a sphere and “tentacles” attached to it, the “tentacles” are generated using the equation for cylinders, but their width and length are determined randomly or according to collected data. It is constructed of exactly 233 tentacles, where each represents a color from the determined color range. The correlations of the colors an the air quality values are explained and visualized in the main menu point “DATA”.
NB: you can play with the WINDROSE by zooming-in, turning of its shape, or simply watching, while it randomly changes the position of its “tentacles” – as long as you will, but first after clicking the “ST∆RT”-button, the program starts with locating the closest measuring station for air quality.
CHECK YOUR INPUT: the app measures your individual input (blowing into your microphone) and visualizes it with the specific behavior of the WINDROSE : Its shape is “blowing up” – it “grows” until you are done.
SAVE RESULTS: the app archives (1) air quality (the color of the WINDROSE ´s longest, flickering “tentacle”) and your individual input (the size of WINDROSE ) at the respective moment – both visible behind the HISTORY-button (for individual result recognition, registration is required):
HISTORY: the app displays each of local measurements of air quality and individual blowing-input and visualizes them with the specific “WINDROSE”.
LOW RES / HIGH RES: the app allows you to (1) download and share a chosen view of the “WINDROSE ” for free, as well as to (2) download a printable view (this version is not for free: the payed amount is 100% used for supporting artistic projects in public spaces).
